Since coming to Hutchies in 2016, Jill has worked with a few teams in different states, including Eddie Gangemi, Ben McArthur, Daniel Cooper, and now Mitch Grimmer. Using her wealth of knowledge, she’s making strides in her career every day and we’re excited to see where she goes next.
#Career Journey
Jilleasa began her journey at a landscaping company, working her way up to Site Manager. Following this, QBuild offered her a role that offered more managerial experience. As this role developed further and her portfolio grew, Jill began studying Business Management and Contracts which afforded her the opportunity to work as a CA on the Carseldine Government Office Precinct Refurbishment Project.
As this job finished up, Hindmarsh offered her a job that provided great exposure to the Development side, and this was instrumental in her next steps going forward. Later, she was able to work as Executive Assistant to Chief of IT at Allianz Global Assistance. Witnessing project management at a global scale enticed Jill to take up studying again and, as her contract with Allianz came to a close, she began looking for work in the construction industry again.
Finally, she was offered a cadetship here at Hutchies on the Newstead Central Projects. Further study opportunities presented themselves in QLD and Melbourne, and these include completion of a Construction Management and Project Management Dual Diploma, Building in Construction Diploma and the Advance Diploma in Building and Construction.
Jill truly believes that her career progression to date has been through ‘on the job learning’, studying while working and mentors who she was able to have honest communication with around her abilities, strengths, and weaknesses.
Today, she is extremely grateful and proud of the opportunity that was presented to work interstate and she highly recommends everyone takes the opportunities presented to them, and work on diverse projects.
